Leaders of the hardworking Washington, DC-area community groups that receive |
CNE provides training, technical assistance, and linkages to sources of support to community and faith-based programs throughout the nation, and has a strong emphasis on their critical need for good financial management. With the creation of its Neighborhood Leadership Development Institute in 1990, CNE developed a comprehensive curriculum for the unique needs of these groups, addressing personal, organizational, and community development. CNE has trained leaders of more than 2,600 grassroots organizations in 39 states since 1981 and leveraged resources for these grassroots organizations at a rate of more than 10 times what it has expended.
The Center has been a Compassion Capital Fund intermediary organization since 2003 with funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families (HHS/ACF). From 2008 through 2010, CNE served 54 faith and community based organizations in Washington, DC with technical assistance and subgrant awards. The goal of the CCF is to expand the role that faith-based and community groups play in providing social services to those in need, including at-risk youth, the homeless, elders-in-need, families and individuals in transition from welfare to work, substance abusers, ex-offenders, or in promotion of healthy marriages.
